Chat limits and upgrading
On the free plan, AI chat comes with a set number of messages each billing period. On the Pro plan, AI chat messages are unlimited. Your allowance resets automatically at the start of each new period — you never lose access permanently.
Knowing where you stand
When you've used about 70% of your monthly allowance, a Running low on AI chat card appears in the sidebar. It shows a progress bar, how many messages you have left, the date your allowance resets, and an Upgrade to Pro button. You can also review your usage any time in Settings under Billing & Usage — see Account & Billing.
When you reach the monthly limit
If you use all of your messages for the period:
- The sidebar card changes to AI chat limit reached
- The chat shows a message from Flo explaining you've reached your monthly AI chat limit, with an upgrade option
- The message input is disabled until your allowance resets or you upgrade
Everything else in Gridflo keeps working — your tasks, notes, calendar, habits, and people are never locked.
Per-conversation limit
Separately from your plan, each individual conversation holds up to 50 messages. When a conversation fills up, you'll see Message limit reached (50 messages) — just start a new chat to continue. Flo's memories carry over between conversations, so you won't lose context.
Other AI allowances
Email processing in the AI Inbox has its own allowance on the free plan, and is also unlimited on Pro.
