Formatting your notes
The note editor is a rich text editor with a toolbar above the writing area. You can apply formatting from the toolbar, type / anywhere to open the slash menu, or select text to reveal the floating bubble menu.
Text styles
- B — bold
- I — italic
- S — strikethrough
- Highlight (marker icon) — highlight text in yellow
- Code (
`icon) — inline monospace code
Styles can be combined — text can be bold, italic, and highlighted at the same time.
Headings
Use the H1, H2, and H3 buttons to turn the current line into a heading. H1 is the largest, H3 the smallest. Click the active heading button again to return to normal text.
Lists
- • List — bullet list
- 1. List — numbered list
- To-do list (checkbox icon) — checklist with interactive checkboxes; click any checkbox to mark it done
- Quote — block quote, ideal for calling out a passage
Press Enter inside a list to add the next item, and press Enter on an empty item to exit the list. To-do list items support nesting — press Tab to indent an item.
Tables
Click the table icon in the toolbar to insert a 3×3 table with a header row. Once your cursor is inside the table, a table menu appears below the main toolbar — use it to add or remove rows and columns, merge cells, and delete the table. Drag the column borders to resize columns.
Images and dividers
Click the image button to pick a file and insert it at your cursor. You can also paste an image from your clipboard or drag one into the editor. The divider button (—) inserts a horizontal line for separating sections.
Slash menu
Type / anywhere in the note body to open the slash menu. Start typing to filter — then click or press Enter to insert. Everything in the toolbar is available here, plus a code block and inline block links.
Bubble menu
Select any text to reveal the floating bubble menu above your selection. It gives you quick access to bold, italic, strikethrough, highlight, inline code, links, and headings — without reaching for the toolbar.
Undo and redo
The ↶ and ↷ buttons at the end of the toolbar step backwards and forwards through your edits. Notes autosave continuously.
